| The J.E.
Foster Funeral Homes Inc. was established in May 1987 with the
opening of our new Toronto, Ohio facility at 701 Findley Street.
Our open house was held on May 3, 1987. My wife, Becky, our
five children; Mindy, Jay, Emily, Katie and Deanna were all
present to celebrate this joyous day. |

We held
our ground breaking ceremony in July of 1986. All of our children
took part in digging the first shovelful of dirt. Becky is pregnant
with Deanna and holding Katie. Emily, Mindy and Jay are busy
helping me do the digging honors. Looking on is the late Reverend
Harold Griffith, State Senator Rob Burch, City Planning Director
the late Lew Moore, and Chamber of Commerce President Tom Cetkosky. |
| The Smithfield,
Ohio Funeral Home was purchased in 1985 from James and Julia
Nightingale, who established the funeral home in November of
1959. Our Smithfield Funeral Home went by the name of Nightingale-Foster
Funeral Home until 1987, when the Toronto Funeral Home was established.
The name at that time changed to; J.E.Foster Funeral Home, Inc.
Nightingale Chapel. |
